THE LINK

Many of you noticed in our little Ibis Cycles website update recently, a couple not too subtle hints about what is to come. Since you’ve gone to all the trouble of actually reading this far in this first sentence, we have a reward for you. Here’s an engineer’s eye view of one of the parts of one of our new bikes.

You can decipher and speculate all you want, and you’ll probably be pretty close if any of the MTBR and other newsgroups are any indication.
We gave you another teaser too, but we’ll embellish here for you. A little bit anyway. Again, a reward for wading in this deep.

Have fun, check back often, ride more, work less.

THE MAN

Tuesday, August 30th, 2005

Hi All,

We’ve been pretty stingy with information about the new Ibis that’s about to be unleashed on an unsuspecting bike world. While we still don’t have much information of substance about our actual bikes to share, we thought we’d fire up this new part of the Ibis website.

We’ll launch the full website right around the first day of the Interbike trade show in Las Vegas. That means you’ll know all there is to know on or about September 28th.

In the mean time, we’re going to share our thoughts about a few things. Some will be bike related, some not. I guess a lot of people call this a blog. But we don’t really like that word. We don’t really even like blogs. We like podcasts a lot, but they’re too much work, so don’t expect one of them soon. Expect a few random thoughts and maybe a peek into some of the fun stuff we’ve been up to in between all-night welding sessions.

As we’ve been digging through the archives, reviewing twenty-plus years of living our little bike dream, we’ve come across a few goodies. We’re going to share them with you now and again, as we dust off the old picture books.

Here’s the first juicy bit. Eddy was my hero growing up, and I guess in a lot of ways still is. He signed this for me I don’t remember where, but I can tell you that Chuck Ibis was a happy boy that day.

Eddy

Now, for those of you not familiar with the absolute dominance that Eddy exhibited during his career, I highly recommend you read this article written in 2000 by Ted Costantino. Ted lays it all out for you, no one-possibly in any sport let alone cycling-has ever shown this amount of utter domination.

OK, time to ride.
