Mojo Delivery Update

Sunday, April 30th, 2006

Howdy All,
Well, I’m fresh off a few days of riding out in Fruita, and the Mojo Carbon prototype I had out there performed beautifully…
Tom back at the office in Santa Cruz sent out a note to our dealers this week and I wanted to pass on some info.
The Silk Carbons have been shipping for the last couple weeks and we’ve been getting lots of positive emails from customers all over the place.
Here’s Tom’s note about the Mojo:
Mojo Carbon Delivery:
“Recent testing uncovered a couple of small clearance issues that we needed to address before beginning our initial production run. The downside being that this has pushed back the first deliveries of the Mojo until the beginning of June. While none of us are happy about the delay we are glad to have had the opportunity to address these issues now instead of after the bikes go out to consumers. As we get into May we should have firmer ship dates which I will share with everyone as they become available.

We continue to receive overwhelmingly positive feedback from magazine testers who are reviewing the Mojo. The product which should be some very nice reviews in upcoming issues of Mountain Bike Magazine and Mountain Bike Action right when the first bikes are arriving.”

The June issue of MBA has a very nice column by Richard Cunningham all about the rebirth of Ibis. There is a road test coming soon, perhaps in the July issue. We’ll keep you updated on that as soon as we hear. We’re excited to get people an unbiased assessment of the bike.

In the mean time, enjoy the spring and stay tuned for more delivery updates…

More Love From the Press

Monday, April 24th, 2006

Since this little Ibis endeavor is still kinda new, we haven’t been able to point you to many third party tests of the bike. We can tell you how great it is, but why should you trust us when we’re tying to make a buck off the bike?
We’re kind of like a good doctor; you can trust us, but it’s always good to get a second opinion. So the second opinions are starting to come out.
Our good friends at Dirt Rag have published a nice little article all aboout the Mojo Carbon by our Spanish journalist friend Manuel Marqueda. He got a chance to ride the bike and conducted extensive interviews with both Hans and myself. You can find it in issue 120 which is on the newsstands now. Cover day April 1, 2006.
Check it out.

The good news is that there will be a flurry of tests coming up soon now that we’ve got some more prototypes.
Stay tuned for more news about that.

On Another Note.
If any of you are going to be hanging out at the Fruita Fat Tire Festival this weekend, I’ll be there with Mojo Carbon in tow. Let’s go riding!

IT’S RAINING, MUST BE TIME FOR SEA OTTER!

Tuesday, April 4th, 2006

Howdy All, You think with all the rain we’ve had in NorCal over the last few months that I’d have time to make an occasional blog entry.
Er, I mean spew entry.
Guess again.
If there were an Olympics for blogging, I’d be back there with the Jamaican bobsled team.
Maybe that old saying that “no news is good news” applies in this case?

The forecast is showing another week of April rain here, so I guess it’s time to go to Sea Otter and test out the Gore-Tex. We’ll be down there, with the Mojo Carbon and Silk Carbon on display. No, you can’t borrow one to race. No you can’t take one out on a mud bog of a test ride, sorry.
Actually, we’d love to let you all take bikes out, but the ones we’ll have there at Soggy Otter will be headed to magazines for testing at the conclusion of the event.
Look us up, shivering in booth 816 I think.

Tiny Update
We’re expecting to start shipping the Silk Carbons very soon. We’ve slipped a bit from our March date, since it appears to already be April. We’re still anticipating shipping the first Mojos toward the end of the month, we’ll keep your dealers updated on the anticipated date of their bikes as soon as we know.

On another note.
Here’s a sneek preview of our new super secret HQ. This is an actual photo from our research library….

Not to mention, when you open that beautiful carbon fiber toilet seat up, it reveals this:

And speaking of T-Mobile and round things with holes in them…

I was looking up some old Ibis information on the web for a customer yesterday and came across this archived Ibis page.
This comes from back in the day when one certain sausage-loving German showed up at the end of the winter donut eating season a bit robust shall we say. We added this fun page to promote one of our road bikes.
The link is here.

Ahhh, the good old days…

For those who don’t know about the wayback machine, it’s a historical web archive, and you can find all sorts of embarrassing things there.
Go to archive.org and start sniffing. They don’t save all the images unfortunately. But the above referenced page is displayed in its full graphic glory.

Ciao for now,
