When it Rains, it Pours!

Friday, May 26th, 2006

After an excruciatingly long wait, we finally were able to show you, our beloved readers, an unbiased review of what a badass bike we’ve got here with the good ‘ol Ibis Mojo Carbon. Richard Cunningham gave us the massive props in his July MBA review. We’re quite happy about that.
Now our buddies at Mountain Bike, and in particluar Ron Koch, have reviewed the Mojo Carbon as well.

We Finally Know What to Call it!
In their cover story, they review five All Mountain bikes. People have been asking us what kind of a bike it is, and now we know! It’s an all mountain.

Here’s the cover oh yeah:

That’s our bike on the cover but it’s hard to tell.

The good news is that of the “5 Best All Mountain Bikes”, THEY LIKED OURS THE BEST: (see above).

Sorry Gary. The other good news, is that it was the lightest bike BY 5 POUNDS. They got the price right too!
Here’s the thumbnail of the test, click on it to read all about it.

A sweet picture of test rider Barry Smith is here:

By the way, he immediately contacted us to try and get a bike after he rode it. I’m just sayin…

Thanks Ron and Matt and everybody at Mountain Bike.

Little PDF for your faster downloading pleasure

Wednesday, May 24th, 2006

Our extremely talented Ibis fan Hendrik who hails from Frankfurt did some fancy stuff with his fancy computer and got us a nice small version of the MBA Mojo review. He’s reduced it only about 380k. Thanks Hendrik!

Now if you insist on using bandwidth, Hendrik has a solution for you too, a 150dpi version of the same that you could use to project the image on the side of the Reichstag (some extra video equipment may be required). Click Here >

Big ‘ol pdf for your downloading pleasure

Monday, May 22nd, 2006

I guess the new MBA hasn’t quite hit the stores yet. So we’ve decided to post a copy of the article here, in all its pdf 4 megabyte file glory.
If all goes well, clicking on the image should open the pdf.

BIG FILE WARNING: CLICKING ON THIS COULD RESULT IN A SERIOUS BOG DOWN IN YOUR INTERNET CONNECTION, followed by a puddle of drool in front of your keyboard. So be patient.

If that doesn’t work, click here.

Remember, it’s a four meg file, so depending on your connection it could take awhile.

Full-On Mojo Test in the New MBA!!!

Saturday, May 20th, 2006

Well folks, the moment we’ve been waiting for has finally arrived. Maybe you haven’t been waiting for it but we have.

Richard Cunningham’s test of the Mojo has hit the newsstands. Or it will very soon. In the July issue of Mountain Bike Action, there it is in all its glory, on the cover:

And the test begins on pages 86

The report is glowing. Rather than try to reproduce it here, we’ll give you a sneak preview and let you go pick up the magazine (if you already subscribe, it should be in your mailbox soon). Or you can get it with an online subscription from Zinio, that’s how we get ours. Zinio is also good for the international readers who don’t want to wait for the slow boat from the printers.

ONE BIG PROBLEM…
Richard got the price wrong! He over shot it by $1100.

In the article he lists the price for the SL model as $5500 when it is really $4399.
And we should also mention that we have the SX for $3299.
Maybe Richard is clairvoyant or something because he did get pretty close to what the price will be in 07 with the brand new XTR stuff. We figure the bike will weigh in at about 24 pounds complete with the newest XTR, you can also read about 07 XTR in July 06 MBA. The current Mojo weighs 25.5lbs with pedals.

So there you have it, a stellar review, an a price that’s considerably less than what is stated in the article.

We know that a lot of you have been waiting to see an unbiased report of how the bike works. It’s finally arrived.

Once again, we’re pretty back-ordered on the bikes. To find a dealer near you (or far from you if you prefer) go to http://ibiscycles.com/how_to_buy/

More tests coming soon.

Cheers,
Pimpy aka Chuck

Digging all the way to China

Saturday, May 20th, 2006

This I like very much. I don’t know why, but it really doesn’t matter.
Go to the Opposite tool here:
http://www.zefrank.com/sandwich/tool.html
Turns out if you dig straight down, you don’t end up in China after all, like we were all taugh in geography class in school.
From where I’m digging, I end up in the Indian Ocean, somewhere south of Madagascar.

The original inspriation for this was titled “if the earth were a sandwich” and it’s a very useful project that attempts to put two pieces of bread at exact opposite sides of the earth, thus creating a sandwich.

Enjoy!
