A SUMMER FRIDAY RAMBLE and question at the end
Random Stuff for a Friday…
For all of you waiting for the delivery date on your Mojo that you have on order, we hope to have a delivery update for you next week. Tom is headed to the factory to check things out. We are all hoping he has good news! We haven’t heard about any delays, so we’re hoping that means that they’re feverishily working to get our shipment out to us. We’ll let you know as soon as we know.
In the meantime…
Back in the day at Ibis, we used to make bottle rockets with old coke bottles. We kept raising the bar making better and better rockets with better launchers, more accurate and more range. Fortunately our shop was next to a big old field.
We started low tech, here’s a shot of an early watermelon launch

That’s Ron Andrews on the short end of the stick
We increased our sophistication and got into compressed air and coke bottles, here’s the launch apparatus.

Use the floor pump to put about 150PSI in a standard coke bottle. The coke bottle was outfitted with fins courtesy of Bud, and we put a big weight in the nose cone, these things were amazingly stable. They’d go 100+ yards in a couple of seconds. We could almost hit that house off in the distance.
One of my favorite moments was the day Valentino Campagnolo came to visit us and see what this mountain bike hubub was all about. We told him forget about bikes, check out our rockets. We had a couple of launches for him before we got down to business, and he was practiacally rolling on the ground in his Armani sportcoat, laughing uncontrollably. Good times were had by all and the next time I was in Italy he treated me to a private dinner at his Villa, and a few days of royal treatment around Vicenza. I’m convinced it was all due to the rockets.
Fast forward a bit, here’s a fun new experiment with Coke and Mentos that a friend found somewhere out there somehow.
Check the Video Below, it’s hilarious! Think of the fountain at the Bellagio in Vegas. Fully choreographed. Hit play and sit back for a minute. There’s even a soundtrack. It’s a quicktime video, should be pretty compatible with most browsers, let it load for a while…
Finally, an Ibis friend has a SilkTi in Large in great wonderful shape and he is looking for someone who might want to trade for an XL. Anybody out ther got an XL SilkTi that they want to sell or trade? If so, give a shout to this guy on the email, his name is Kovas: kovaslapsys@hotmail.com
Ok, Pimpy Blogstocking over and out–have a nice June weekend.
