EARTH DAY (but not carbon neutral)
Sunday, April 22nd, 2007I think today is earth day. Go ride your bike. I’m gonna. Like I did yesterday. And the day before.
We think a good thing to do though is make every day your own little earth day. Ride those two wheeled human powered things as much as you can. Live close to work (or work at home if that’s an option).
Here in sunny (mostly) California, the state is trying to jump start the alternative energy industry. Two of the three of us Ibis homeowners have jumped on that bandwagon (with a bit of help from Ahhhnold), because we think it’s a good bandwagon to be riding. Both Hans and I feed the grid when the sun is shining. When the electric bill comes, we do a little jump for joy. At least I do.
So without further proselytizing, here are a couple of pictures of our respective grid intertied solar systems.
The following three are pictures Hans’ solar system in the hills above Aptos:

Now, heading up to the north bay, here’s my pathetic array for my little hovel in Santa Rosa:
We hear a ton of talk about being “carbon neutral” these day. But we are anything but carbon neutral. We are very bullish on carbon. You could say we’re “carbon positive” in fact. The Mojo Carbon and the Silk Carbon. Nice stuff. We love it. The more the better. Actually, I think I mean the less the better. So there you go, happy earth day.
