WORLD’S WORST REDUX
Saturday, September 22nd, 2007Wow, look at that would you, not a single post since August 10. I’m sure a good not-a-blogger. I suppose excuses could be made up but that would just add to my lameness. Lots of stuff going on here at the World HQ. Getting ready for Interbike. Getting unburied after a month in Europe, riding bikes and doing that other show: Eurobike. The new bikes are here, and we’ll show them to the world on Wednesday. The Mojo SL is amazing, and the Tranny has been well received by the select few who have feasted their eyes upon it.
Most of the last month was spent being a guide for Andy Hampsten’s tour company Cinghiale. The long days of riding and long nights of eating and drinking were difficult. The first half of the month was spent in the Dolomites, retracing many of the routes that the Giro took when Andy won it in 1988. The second half was in Tuscany, sublime as it ever was.
Here are a few pictures.
We had an idea we’d be in for a treat when we arrived at the hotel in Alleghe:
Later that same day, we found ourselves looking down at the hotel. It’s on the lake down there.

We found a few nice roads to explore
After a few days, we moved west and hit the big stuff: Gavia, Stelvio, Morticolo, and more. This is the area where Andy sealed his 1988 Giro win.
Here are a few of the 48 switchbacks of the Stelvio
And off to the Gavia
A touch of dirt thrown in for good measure
And back onto some of the sweetest most deserted pavement around…
Maybe I’ll post a few more someday. It was a great trip, hard to come home, especially when you know you’re going from this to Vegas in a few short hours…
