PINK RIBBON FUNDRAISER

Friday, October 24th, 2008

Many of you will remember we held a little fundraiser back in June. The fundraiser benefited the LAF, who has been very helpful to a friend of Ibis who has cancer. A $5 raffle ticket bought you a ticket, the grand prize being a brand new Ibis SilkSL road bike with full Dura Ace group (generously donated by Shimano).

The upshot? We raised $37,505.

Well, Shimano is back at it again, fighting the good fight. They’ve teamed up with five frame builders to offer five custom bicycles being auctioned to raise funds for the Young Survival Coalition (YSC).

The month of October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The Shimano Alfine Pink Ribbon Fundraiser is now LIVE, lasting through October 30, 2008, and 100% of the proceeds go to the YSC.

Each handcrafted bicycle is unique – with its own flair and personality. From the custom bicycle designs to the custom paint and graphics to the unique accessories like custom leather bags and real wood fenders, each bicycle tells an individual builder’s story and reflects their own style. The custom frame builders include, Ellsworth Handcrafted Bicycles, Rock Lobster Bicycles, Sycip Designs, Torelli Bicycle Company and Vicious Cycles.

Sassetta to Suvereto

Thursday, October 23rd, 2008

You didn’t hear it from me, but one of the nicest, tastiest, sweetest, funnest most excellent stretches of pavement is the run between Sassetta and Suvereto in good old Tuscany.

I haven’t counted them, but there is something like 180 turns. Did I mention it is fun?

Here’s a fun, arty little sped-up video of Andy Hampsten riding the first half of this little run. Thanks to our favorite French contributor Arnaud (whose steady hand is on an Ibis Silk) for the fun video!

Maybe next year we’ll get the second half!

Since we’re in video mode, I might as well show you this.

I really have nothing to add.

Exclusive Photos of Ibis Gulfstream

Monday, October 13th, 2008

Oops I meant Airstream.

As some of you might know, we got ourselves a real nice 1957 Airstream trailer, and used it as our Tradeshow booth this year at Interbike. Here’s a pic of the booth (click for a bigger view).

Inside was a nice quiet little haven of really good espresso and 10 cases of New Belgium’s Finest!

Needless to say, we were very very popular at the show.

Next up for Ibis, trailer modification. We’re pretty sure this is the direction we’ll be taking with the Airstream.
