FINAL RAFFLE PUSH
The big push to raise some dough for the Sierra Buttes Trail Stewardship up in Downieville is over on Monday April 27th.
It only costs $5.00 to make a difference.
For those of you who don’t know about the SBTS, they build and maintain trails in the Downieville and Sierra Buttes area, which is a wonderful riding area up in the Sierra about an hour from Tahoe. Here’s a nice shot of the area.
Since inception 6 years ago, volunteers have donated 22,000 hours of labor to the Stewardship. That’s what you call leverage. Each dollar donated goes a long way toward keeping the trails in tip top shape.
Each year they organize a number of events. The biggie is the Downieville Classic, the biggest yearly fundraiser for the Stewardship.
They also organize a nearly monthly trail day. Volunteers build trail on Saturday and go for a ride on Sunday. Efforts like this:
And this:
Get results like this:
There are also a series of “Epics”, big days on the bike up around the area. Here’s a group taking a lunch break on an Epic:
That’s a whole lot of good positive energy happening up there in the Sierra. The group also reaches out to the local schools and communities, involving them and bringing them into the process. Very inclusive behavior.
Hopefully you’ve kicked down a bit of moolah to benefit this very good organization.
If not, there’s still time. Click this logo, it’ll take you to the donate page. Thanks in advance, and thank all of you volunteers for the SBTS!
