Ernie Joins Chuck and Fatty to Fight Nasty Cancer

If you read the last post from two days ago, it was announced that we (Ibis) are donating a bike to Fatty (Fatty), to be used in raffle to raise money to fight cancer. The bike will the winner’s choice of a Mojo SL, Tranny, Hakkalügi or a Silk SL. And the winner will be flown anywhere in the US to join Fatty and me on a bike ride that we all agree on. And in that post, we told you that we’d have a mystery guest ex pro rider join us on the ride.

Well, we are of course OUTRAGED, but somehow the identity of our mystery ex-pro was leaked to the foreign press yesterday. Today, Fatty showed us a picture of his (now) hairy legs (taken by our good friend Arnaud Bachelard).

Here’s a better view of our mystery guest, when he and I were having a board meeting high above Crested Butte Colorado. I hope we got through all of our agenda items!

Well, that’s me on the left, with the hairy legs and on the right is none other than Andy Hampsten (who some people call Ernie), winner of the 1988 Tour of Italy, all around nice guy and our mystery pro who is going to join me and Fatty with the winner of this contest.

I’m lucky enough to occasionally guide with Andy’s company Cinghiale Tours over there in Tuscany. And I know what a nice guy Andy is. And no, even though he could, he’s not going to drop you. This will be a social ride. Andy’s good at that. Maybe we’ll stop and have some struedel.

Let’s Recap

  • The winner gets an Ibis bike of his or her choice, color and size is your choice.
  • We’ll fly you to the best possible riding spot in the US, according to you (and ratified by us).
  • You’ll get to ride with me (Chuck), Elden (Fatty) and Andy (Ernie). Our winner better have a nickname!
  • ALL the proceeds (100%–every penny) go directly to the Lance Armstrong Foundation to fight cancer.

Let’s Remember

Why are we doing this? Because cancer is a nasty disease that affects every single one of us. Elden is a saint and we should all be helping him on his quest.

So far this year, Elden has raised $695,290 to fight cancer.

Please help us get it up to THREE QUARTERS OF A MILLION DOLLARS.

Thanks!

PS, I just threw in another hundie. Why don’t you do it too?

PPS, I know you’ve likely seen this before, but I just wanted to remind you that we chose Andy’s hairy legs over George’s shaved legs:

That’s right, the winner of the Tour of Italy has hairy legs. Or at least he did in August. Which could be good or bad news for the winner of our contest. It could mean that Andy’s less

Dude can you please be smart and get that leg fixed. I had exackly those kind of dead veins (pumps to circulate blood back up no longer working and the blood just pools) in my left leg. After having them stripped and had them come back ! I went to Vein Clinics of America and had the doplar guided injection. Layed low a couple of weeks and my leg has been normal for 15 years. Best proceedure I have ever had done and I am 55 years if I am a day.
Please use your head that is dangerous.
